4 Lessons Winston Churchill taught me about blogging

Where do you draw your inspiration to do what you do?

Or do you you just wake up, go to work, come home, sleep then rinse and repeat the cycle on the other days of the week that duty calls?

I am a problogger. Duty does not call. Nobody has ever ever told me to wake up and go blog. Nobody has ever ever asked me how many blogs did I write today. Nobody has ever ever checked up on me.

Either I tell myself to do it AND follow through or the blogging never gets done. Simple as that.

So, where do I get my motivation? By standing on the ‘shoulders of giants.’

I like reading about great men and women and listening in on the things they said that inspired those around them.

Winston Churchill was one such person. I have many others. Well, maybe not many…but others that whisper in my ear to keep me going.

I am apt to share some of them here at BillBelew.com.

Here are a few things (in no particular order) that Winston Churchill, the author, orator and statesman said that from time to time I will recall and will help keep me going.

1.” The greatest lesson in life is to know that even fools are right sometimes.” This would mean, that I (a fool) can be right sometimes, too. Blog on I say.

2. “Personally, I am always ready to learn, although I do not like being taught.” My commenters are apt to teach me from time to time even though I wasn’t particularly keen on learning at the time.

3. “Eating words has never given me indigestion.” You gotta have words ‘out there’ in order to be forced to eat them.

4.  “Never, never, never, never give up.” An artist friend of mine calls this ‘paying your dues.’ To make it as a blogger, one must do as Churchill said.

Again, I ask, “What or who keeps you going when you feel like quitting?”
