Being a novice at blogging, I found the need to understand and gain knowledge of the methods for marketing on various social media, how it generates revenue, and what are the techniques for building an effective marketing strategy. I find that the first two days of the class have equipped me with the tools to begin, and set out on this exciting venture of building my own blog. It’s been interesting setting up my blog and kicking off the writing. On the outset, it seems like an uphill task to get it running and to ensure I have ideas that appeal to a large audience. However, I am also convinced that I have the will and the ability to climb the hill.
I plan to focus my blog around the challenge I faced when I had begun to cook. I had no idea where to start and how to put ingredients together. I needed to know where to find recipes, to know proportions, to buy ingredients that were healthy, and a plethora of other questions. But once I create this platform, it should help all those who plan to use the ladle and wear the chef hat.
Similar to the challenge that was cooking, and the way I accomplished the skill and ability to be able to give advice to new chefs, I am determined to be able to do the same for my blog. I have already begun to understand concepts such as SEO and timely posts, internal and external links, importance of website traffic among others. This new found knowledge excites me, and makes me feel confident about my venture. Most of all, I feel that I can write and know that it can make a difference to someone.
This week, I plan to start doling out my advice and building content on my blog. I hope I can keep in mind all that I have learnt and manage to build the blog that I have envisioned. And someday, I hope to be able to help novice bloggers the same way I am now helping newbie chefs!
