Everybody must have come across the saying: “What’s in the name.” Yes, and it is true to very good extent. In most of the situations, the name is not that important. What is important is the work and the quality of your work. Your smartness and attitude towards things is more important than who is doing it. They say that once you do your work on time and achieve the desire goal or perfection, your name automatically comes in the light. And that is the right way for you to become known in the public. Hence, I believe in doing quality of work rather than bashing about what I am doing.
Titles are Important in Social Marketing
That being said, names or titles are very important in the world of social marketing. So, the above adage does not hold true when it comes to blogging and other marketing strategies. You have to sell your content. You want to be found by those million available online articles in the search engines. You are competing with a very large number or articles and want to be the one which the readers want to read. What is that important thing in your blog which will help you to fight all those articles and appear in the search engine and make the reader to click on yours and read?
The answer is fairly simple! Just have the right title for your blog. Yes, that simple it is! But often times, getting the right title for your blog is not simple. In fact it becomes more challenging giving a name or title to your blog than writing the blog itself. One has to give tremendous thought in choosing the right words. A perfect title is that one thing which will help you to appear in the search engine. I know many people have a hard time in deciding the right title for their blog. I myself struggle a lot at times.
Bill has given few simple and easy to follow tricks which are very helpful in giving a proper title to the blogs. I try and follow them most of the times while I write titles for my blog posts. The first rule is that the title should be about six to eight words long which is about sixty characters. No more, no less. This rule is fairly simple and easy to follow and definitely one that works and helps you appear in the search engine.
Google Blog Search
Another ways which I follow while giving a title to my blog posts is that I often use the Google Blog search. I put words about which I am writing my blog about and hit search. I can find an endless lists of articles and posts related to my topic. I browse through them and see which words are most often used. I try to use similar words for my blog titles.
I also try to use Google adwords while I have to name the title of my blog. Google adwords also helps me to find a appropriate words which I use in the title for my blog.
I also make sure to avoid words such as: as, and, over, then, clever, cute etc. which we usually dont put in the search engine while looking for something.
