Finally I, Chhaya Khanal started writing blogs and it has been a lot for me as I have been writing and writing. Writing in a blog means you can share ideas, opinions and facts to the public. But you can’t sit quietly once you create a blog but keep writing on it. As I said on my last blog, right things should reach to right people and only after that, it will have a proper value. No matter how good the content is, having a regular traffic requires promoting the blog to readers who would find it useful. Also, I read How to Promote your Blog – 5 steps to take today by Bill Belew. After reading his blog, I also thought about generating more traffic and promoting my blog Info-Nepal. In my today’s blog, I will be writing some strategies to promote my blog.
First thing is I will try to connect my posts to several other articles or posts so that it will be reflected on their blogs as well and people might be interested to read the linked articles i.e., back linking. I believe back linking can generate more traffic to my blog. Also, last week I made several wonderful friends on my class “Marketing with Social Media” where all the students have their own blogs. Now, I can write on their blogs and link my posts to their blogs so that more readers will view my site.
Other social networking sites such as Facebook and twitter are common tools to promote my blogs. I have more than 600 friends on Facebook and I can share my links on my social media account making it public. This way, my blog will reach to a larger number of people through friends and networks. If they share my article on their Facebook page, it might go viral.
Secondly, putting a website on my email signature will also be helpful for promoting my blog. So every time I send my message to any of my friends, colleagues and other people, they might be interested in checking my blog.
Similarly, including the website domain on my business cards also help me to promote my blog. I will be including my blog URL on my business cards as well as all social profiles so that maximum readers can be generated.
Apart from this, there are several ways one can promote the blog such as email newsletter, professional gatherings, community participation, print promotional materials and etc.
Finally, our professor Bill Belew is one of the great bloggers and he has large numbers of readers for his different blogs. So, I will be writing on his blogs and comments and link the contents to my posts of my blogs. This way, a large number of people can access and view my blogs through the link and posts.
There are several other ways to promote my blogs and blogging strategies which I will talk on my next post. I recently wrote a blog “Nepal needs social media to promote tourism” which also gives some highlights on the importance of blog and promotions.
