I wasn’t sure how this class is going to turn out. But now I was getting appreciation already from my filmmaker friends, spending thousand of dollars in an institutes like the California Art Academy. Anyway, this post is about how I fit blogging into my daily rhythm. I have to wake up at 5 am to get ready for working at 6:00 am. I work for an organization which is headquartered in East Coast. So, essentially I work in the ET time zone. I wake up around 5:00 am and take around 15-20 mins to finish the usual morning chores to get started.
Work Starts at 6:00 am. Depending upon the day, right after I start working, I have weekly status meeting calls, schedules and collaboration online meeting with fellow colleagues about projects, applications, IT and lots of internal criterion. I have made a google alert set up for my topic. Usually I get some alerts about my topic.
Pre-Lunch and low workload period. I carry both my personal laptop and the laptop given by my employer when I commute to a North East local office. It takes about 45 mins one way to reach my local office. Depending on the tasks in hand at my office, I do some findings about what are the new things happening in my topic i.e. film making.
Google alerts, yahoo news, film making news, film festival circuits and also entertainment section of newspapers and magazines to look at different sources.
Then I also decide if there are some worthy article to put into my posts. Sometimes it is relevant, worthy to delve into details of the article. And sometimes it is NOT. If there is no article that I find attractive enough, especially if it is trying to have a marketing push, I move on. Depending on all these various factors I decide what would be the topics for that day.
Once decided, I put an initial synopsis during lunch time on my work on the topics. I revisit the posts when I finish my work around 5pm – 6pm. This time, I use bulk of time to focus on writing, editing and arranging the formats of my article. I try to make sure I cover all the basics of blogging as mentioned in this class. It does help me to increase your site statistics in title, tagline, SEO parameters if set correctly, it can dramatically increase the hit counts.
Once I have completed the current posts in hand, I start looking for the next day’s topic and briefly make a note in good old notepads or jot down some special notes for that particular post.
