We are heading to the end of the spring semester, which means we are almost finished with our marketing with social media course. This semester, I am glad to get to learn from our traffic professor – Dr. Bill Belew. He is such an expert in blogging that he teaches us everything. I am working hard and I keep posting blog posts to follow his suggestions and get more traffic.
As told before, blogging is not that hard but also not that easy. We can start blogging anytime and anywhere. Just write down what we want to communicate and share with readers. It is really fun and exciting to make this happen. However, writing a good blog really needs lots of work to do. A good blog would get lots of traffic. You cannot control and push readers to click your website. What you can do is to improve your blogs and make them attractive to readers. No one would like to spend time get nothing in return. Readers would consider the ROI. Prof. Bill told us about the hardest part about blogging for a living.
When I started blogging, it was so challenge to me that I spend lots of hours on it. I think again and again to find out what topic would be interesting and attractive to readers. They don’t want to read something they already know and learnt. They are expecting new things to fulfill their life. I think creativity is the hardest part I have experienced with blogging. It took me lots of time to do the research and find out what would be fun or interesting to readers.
Another difficulty I have met is the consistency of keep posting. Prof. Bill mentioned, the more your post, the high possibility you would get traffic. I think this is true, but it is really hard. You need to maintain both good quality and high quantity of blogs. It would be easy for bloggers to give up. Especially when you find out that your traffic is still low after you kept posting for a while.
What we can do is to keep confidence in ourselves. We need to work harder and make no excuses. It is really easy to find reasons not to write blogs. We should make it become a habit and make sure if you are really the right person for posting blogs. Finding out the rhythm of writing blogs would be helpful to save lots of time. I would keep following Prof. Bill’s key rules about blogs to promote my blog. Even the course is going to end soon. I believe it is really a good experience to learn and study about the king of social media – blogs.
