I’m Tulasi, proud owner of Arts and Crafts blog. Blogging has changed my whole perspective on Arts. I read this post at Prof. Bill Belew’s blog about “Things I Learned about Myself from Blogging That I Did Not Expect to”. I also learnt lot of lessons as a blogger. There are few important lessons that I learnt.
1. I’m well organized and I want everything around me to be neat and beautiful.
This has helped me to choose an amazing theme for my blog. You might think that theme is not important for a blog. I slightly disagree with that view. Personally, I visit the page if it looked convincing to me. If not, I would just exit the blog or website for it has a horrible appearance. Similarly, it is very important to categorize your blog according to the type of the posts. I want things to be well organized, it might be my living room or my blog. I treat both as same and visitors are equally important as my guests. I believe that all the visitors in my blog are very comfortable with my blog and helped me to reached more than 10,000 page views.
2. Being very timely is my job.
I’m a very timely person. I want my blog to be up to date. When readers visit my site, they should read new stuff and it should be very interesting unlike my old school social studies textbook. There are many painting which worth millions of dollars and we always wonder why and who bought it. The article we read online doesn’t give all information. We had to read numbers of articles to know one story. Where as my posts will give all the information on that particular paintings.
3. I care public interest.
Ultimately, public is whom I care. If I don’t know what they want, then my blog is just a piece of crap. Nobody is interested to read it, even it can be found in search engines. My blog will be like an abandoned farm house haunted with a wish of visitors and page views. I do care about the curiosity of people and try to clear it. I would say that this is the success of my blog.
4. I think out of the box.
I registered for this course called “Marketing with Social Media” where I have to blog and get more traffic. It is not an easy job to get traffic in 3 months. Even after following all the SEO techniques and all the lessons in my blogging class, it might end up being unlucky. I wanted to reach out to people and know what they really want to read from an arts and crafts blog. I asked my friends, colleagues and almost everybody for their interest in arts and crafts. They really came up with interesting topics and they all had many curiousities on arts and few colleagues need some ideas on decorations too. I posted one post just for one person. That person got happy and recommended my blog to many people. Well, I hope this process continued but, it ended right there. I realized that, the path I chose was wrong. I need to reach out to people on the internet. I have searched for many questions online that are asked on arts and crafts and posted in my blog accordingly. Answered those people with the link to my post. That’s it, I get 300+ page views per day. It’s an achievement for thinking outside the box.
