Glub, glub, glub. That’s what it would sound like if I were UNDER the surface of the Caribbean Sea.
I was in a boat in the Caribbean sea. The Celebrity Cruise ship – Constellation to be precise.
Celebrity invited me to speak on Social Media to their cruisers. Celebrity is an upscale, not top of the line, but higher end cruise ship. The cruisers were by extension more affluent than your average cruiser. And we were sailing over the New Year holiday which was considerably more expensive than just a week earlier.
It was a relatively short cruise – 4 full days and 5 nights. We spent one day in port in Fort Lauderdale and one day in Cozumel, Mexico.
Normally, a cruise ship lecturer will speak once on each sea day. With 2 sea days I expected to speak twice.
Not so! Celebrity asked me to speak twice on each of the two sea days. I spoke in the mornings at 10:15 and in the afternoons at 2:00 pm, right before Bingo!
The second slot is good and bad. A LOT of people come early to get a good seat for Bingo. That means I have a bigger crowd than might be expected. But it also means that some of those who come early can be pretty noisy. It’s my job to try and grab their attention and keep it. I did.
I talked history of Silicon Valley, Facebook, Google+, Twitter, LinkedIn and their founders, function, fascination and future. Lots of fun.
Maybe you’d like me to speak to your group.
